Thinking about raising chickens at home? Whether you're simply coop curious or ready to start a flock, learn the basics of backyard chicken keeping, care, and coops.

Rapid City Hens is a local advocacy group that played a key role in helping update city ordinances to allow backyard chickens in Rapid City. They continue to support education and awareness around responsible flock keeping and urban poultry care.

Presenter Stephanie Peterson is a South Dakota producer, educator, and chicken-keeping expert who teaches backyard flock classes throughout the region. Through her work in sustainable agriculture and local food systems, she helps connect people with farm life, fresh food, and hands-on learning.
