A wonderfully insightful memoir, Unfollow goes beyond the traditional ‘escape-from-a-cult’ narrative. In it, Megan Phelps-Roper shares her story of growing up in and eventually leaving the infamous Westboro Baptist Church, a group known for their messages of hate and unacceptance. Sensitive and generous, the narrative of Unfollow is genuinely enlightening as to why intelligent, educated, rational people can behave so abhorrently in the name of religion. Megan's story is one of gradual awakening through the questioning of her beliefs, leading to love, healing, and freedom.
